Welding 101

Welding

Welding allows artists, engineers, and makers of all kinds to fabricate strong structures out of metal. This class will cover the new Hacksburg TIG welder for usage with steel. Attendees will practice on scrap steel, using TIG welding techniques. Ages 16+, wear long pants with no synthetic fibers.

Time: February 19, 1:00PM-4:00PM

Location: Hacksburg; 1872 Pratt Drive Suite 1620. Park and enter at the back of the building.

Cost: $5 for Hacksburg members, $10 for non-members.

Hacksburg is Blacksburg's first community makerspace. We're graciously hosted by the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center at 1872 Pratt Drive, Suite 1620.

To get in, first try going around to the back and knocking on the double doors. Someone will come around to let you in.

Makerspaces (also known as hackerspaces) are community-oriented workshops where people share physical and intellectual resources. Hacksburg is a place to collaborate, a place to learn, and a place to work on projects that you might not be able to work on at home.
