About Us

Who are we?

Hacksburg is Blacksburg's first makerspace. Started in 2014, we're a community workshop focused on enabling members of the Blacksburg community to complete projects that would otherwise be out of reach. Whether you need equipment, mentorship, or just some help, Hacksburg is meant to be a useful resource for building anything from rockets to robots to rocking chairs.

Our space is located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, and we wouldn't exist in our current form without their support.

Hacksburg is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Hacksburg is a member of Downtown Blacksburg, Inc.

Get Involved:

• We are located in the CRC at 1872 Pratt Drive, Suite 1620, Blacksburg, VA
• We meet every Tuesday at 7:30 PM in our space at https://meet.hacksburg.org/OpenGroupMeeting. Feel free to come by for a tour! This meeting is open-to-the-public and followed by an open-to-the-public work session starting at the end of the meeting to whenever the last member leaves.

Driving Directions

From 460 West:

1. Take exit 5A towards South Main Street.
2. Turn left onto Industrial Park Rd.
3. Continue across Main Street and bear right Research Center Dr.
4. Turn left onto Kraft Drive.
5. Turn left onto Pratt Drive.
6. Take the second left into the parking lot of 1872 Pratt Drive, the Garvin Innovation Center.
7. Continue through the parking lot around the right side of the building and park in the rear lot.
8. Hacksburg is inside through the double doors. If the door isn't open, knock clearly and we'll let you in.

Blacksburg Transit Directions

We are on the CRC Shuttle line of Blacksburg Transit. The stop number is 1701 (Pratt Dr/Garvin Bldg), the stop before the Kraft Drive time check. While we try to keep the info below current, please check the Blacksburg Transit website for the latest information and timetables.

Weekdays:The CRC Shuttle bus runs from 6:45 AM to 9:45 PM during Full and Intermediate Service and from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM during Reduced Service.

Weekends: On Full Service Saturdays, BT service to Hacksburg is run by the CRC Saturday Connector Service, which runs from 10:00 AM-9:00 PM. This service must be arranged in advance by following the directions here; the bus stop you want is 1701. This service does not run on Game Days.

On Intermediate Service Saturdays, the CRC Shuttle bus runs from 7:00 AM to 5:45 PM. There is no service on Reduced Service Saturdays, and no service on Sunday at any service level.
